I believe that I am knowledgeable of how students grow and develop. I understand that no two individuals are alike and factors within these individuals need to be taken into consideration when teaching them. In my time at Kansas State University, I was able to participate in a number of activities that has helped me gain my current knowledge of student development. With educational psychology and human development courses, I have learned that each individual grows cognitively, linguistically, emotional, and physically at different rates. Additionally, each student has their own unique style of learning. When developing lessons and assessments for my students, I try to take as many of these factors into consideration as I can. Oftentimes I will have activities within the same unit that appeal to these different kinds of learners. In my internship experiences, I have had success in implementing these strategies in ways that helped many students learn the content presented to them. Additionally, my student teaching experiences have allowed me to develop lessons that cater to developing learners at an appropriate level.
