Standard 7: The teacher of PK-12 music demonstrates professional responsibility and reflective practice.
As an intern with the Flint Hills Children's Choir, I was in charge of 40 students, sometimes without the directors in the room. Because of this, I had professional responsibility to take care of the students. On trips we take to various places to perform I have been required to lead or be in charge of one of the ensembles. In addition to this, I was a professor's intern before a large trip to Ireland. I was in charge of collecting payments and travel forms from participants to ensure they could go on the trip. In terms of reflective practice, I have gotten in the habit of going back over presentations or performances and then realizing what could have been improved. To help build this skill, I was a conductor for our University Chorus. In this position, I was often in charge of rehearsals and conducting the choir. Because of this, I rewatched and reflected on many of my teaching experiences to lead to improvement.
I believe that my experience with the children's choir has given me the ability to be of great benefit to my students. I have rewatched a great deal of my teaching videos and have had to comment on a better or worse time. I can hear notes or melodies and can correct students mistakes within the music. Also, my administrative skills will allow me to run the choir in an efficient manner.

Artifact #1
This is a full year of repertoire I compiled for an elementary unit. It contains songs of various genres, including music from other cultures. I believe that it is important for our students to learn about them and how music affects their lives. I believe that this full year plan demonstrates my ability to stay ahead professionally in my classes and carefully plan out years for them.
Artifact #2
This lesson plan is from my year long curriculum project. With this performance, I wanted the students to focus on the Latin text of Panis Angelicus. I also believe this unit to be the most self-reflective for the students. Because of the emotional natures of each piece and the languages seen, I believe that this seems to ask a lot of reflection of my students, much like the standard states.
